...and Mother's Day is just around the corner! As the snowdrops, daffodils and blossom start to emerge, so does the supply of British grown flowers. Tulips, ranunculus, anemones, hyacinths, narcissi and hellebores all combine to make a beautiful, scented bouquet. Perfect for a Mother's Day posy! I love the chance to use these stunning flowers, combined with some pickings from the garden, to make something a bit different from the usual offerings.
As well as reducing the flower miles by choosing locally grown flowers, I make sure they are wrapped in sustainable, reusable, recyclable and biodegradable materials. Even my cellophane is plant-based and biodegradable!
This year, as well as delivering my bouquets, I will also be at the Exebridge Spring fair, so you can reserve and collect a bouquet from there, bring your own container to fill with flowers, and children can get a "pocket money posy" or arrangement and decorate their own label and choose their ribbon.
Prices: Pocket money posy from £4
Medium posy £15, £20 delivered
Gift wrapped posy £25 from fair, £30 delivered
Large bouquet in jam jar vase and gift bag £35, £40 delivered
Fill your own container - prices depend on size.
Don't forget - if you use narcissi a bouquet or arrangement, condition them overnight in a separate bucket or vase, and don't recut the stems. They exude a sap which will kill the other flowers. Hellebores last better if you sear the stem ends in boiling water. The older the flower, the longer they last.
